Build Your Own Bike
We are inviting members of the public to participate in this very successful course which we run for our clients.
Build Your Own Bike
'Build Your Own Bike' is a ten week course, one session (2 hours) per week. Our experienced Bike Engineer will guide you through the process of stripping an old bike (yours or ours) and rebuilding your own customised bike.
The sessions will take place at one of our bike workshops. You can choose which location you prefer.
The cost of the course is £395 (introductory offer), payable in advance, including up to £100 worth of parts.*
Before you sign up you will be asked to meet with the Bike Engineer at the workshop to discuss in detail with what your ideas / hopes are for your rebuild. You will be able to pick one of our many bikes or frames or show the Engineer one of your own that you would like to work on.
*Your '£100 worth of parts' includes:
You may like to purchase additional parts or upgrade the standard service parts (above). You will discuss this with Neil before you sign up so that you are clear about any extra costs. Additional parts may include powder coating, mudguards, rear rack, bell, lights, pump, lock, basket, and anything else not specifically included above. Alternatively you can supply parts yourself (at your own expense), but before purchasing anything you should discuss your plan with our Bike Engineer to make sure that you get parts that will fit. We can use new parts or quality reconditioned parts depending on availability and your preferences. New parts will be charged at retail price.
We will provide suitable work boots, eye protection and overalls. You can use your own if you prefer.
Please note that the £395 course fee is not refundable unless the course is cancelled by Common Wheel.
All profits from this course will be used to support our work, providing meaningful activities for people with mental illness.
