How to donate money
Common Wheel is registered as a charity (SC031798) with the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR) and with HMRC. We welcome donations from individuals, legacies and corporate entities. Individual donations can be made online, in cash, or by cheque (payable to Common Wheel), or they can be made through an employer Payroll Giving Scheme.
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation at no extra cost to yourself. Under Gift Aid rules, if you complete a "donor declaration", Common Wheel can reclaim 25p of the tax you pay for every £1 you donate. If you pay Income Tax above the 20% basic rate, you can claim back the difference between the tax you've paid on the donation and what the charity got back when you fill in your Self Assessment tax return. If you don't fill in a Self Assessment tax return, you can call HMRC to tell them about your charity donations.
If you donate through the Payroll Giving Scheme, tax is automatically included at your highest rate, and no further action is required.
