Repairs and maintenance
Advice on looking after your bike is here.
We repair and service most bikes. We are best at older bikes.
We can't quote for a service without seeing the bike. A minor service on one of our bikes after six months is usually £20 including new brake blocks and minor adjustments.
The typical cost of a complete overhaul with new parts is £150 to 200. You can see what is involved here. There is no upper limit for those feeling flush "Go on, fit the £80 headset". Spending £300 on a good old steel bike is more cost effective than replacing it with a new bike of similar quality.
A complete overhaul by us is like a total bicycle transformation. You can have it back to like new, or changed to hub gears, or anything you want.
After a complete overhaul, your bike should feel like it did when it was new. One customer said, "I thought I was bad at cycling, but it was my bike that needed work".
It's much easier for everyone if you get all the jobs done on a bike at once.
Making the old three speed roadster you found in the shed up to our standards, with alloy rims, new tyres, cables etc is £150.
We don't usually charge for fitting parts we supply.
If you have a bike in a box from a non-specialist retailer there is not much we can do to help you. Take it back and get a refund.
Fitting your hybrid with some comfortable handlebars is from £15 if the cable lengths and condition are good.
For minor tweaks, gears/brake adjustment for example, payment can be made with the universal currency of the workshop.

Some of our more experienced customers even arrive with Tunnocks and hand them over before saying anything.
Some people could even be said to take it too far:
