Police auction
The police auction used to be better than it is now. This is Maryhill in 2001 after a visit to the best auction ever. There are 100 bikes in the unit, which we paid £140 for. About half of them were fit only for parts, but it was still a great haul.
You may look at the image and think "what junk". We had to make two trips with a Luton van for this lot, and brought the good stuff first, so it is hidden.
This auction was unique. Back then they were held in Lanark at the cattle market, but because of the movement restrictions imposed because of Foot and Mouth, there hadn't been one for almost a year and the bikes were piling up. It was also held on a Friday instead of a Saturday, so there were less people bidding.
