Interesting bicycles
Some bikes are more interesting than others. Lots of people have collections of fine, high quality bikes. At Common Wheel, Neil has been keeping a few bad bikes. Old bad bikes are far rarer than old good bikes, as they don't get ridden, aren't loved and are definitely not worth repairing.
These links won't all work yet, but appearing here soon will be:
The Sport, a bike from the Breznev era of the USSR. This is the worst bike ever made.
A Sun Solo. In about 1982 there were lots of these. Very few are left.
The Speedy. This is the personal property of Dr. Colin Guthrie. It was the inventor's personal machine, but doesn't get out much these days.
A BSA Airborne paratroopers bike. Only the frame and forks of this are authentic, the rest is just what fits. This was given to us by a retired dentist who had worked with the SAS in Malaya.
A Ross Eurosport with a Shimano Front Freewheel System. This sad relic of the "10 speed" boom in 1970s USA features a front freewheel, which means that so long as the bike is moving forwards, one can change gear without pedaling.
A Sun Touring bike from early 1940.
An unidentified pre war racing machine pulled from a skip (literally) by one of our chaps.
A bike that came in, was photographed then handed back as irrepairable, was this dual disk braked mountainbike. It's not your normal dual disk, both are on the front wheel.
