How many lights?
Some people think that one light on the front and one on the back is not enough.
If you are using an old style dynamo that goes out when you stop, then a second battery light is a good idea, but an LED Standlight that stays on is better.
The bike lights we sell are good for being seen with, but not for seeing where you are going in a dark park, so a second brighter light can be useful.
Some people are worried about the reliability of lights, and want to keep themselves safe and legal by having a backup. This is not altogether a bad thing, but good modern lights are very dependable, and small enough to carry a spare in a pocket.
Fitting more than two lights front or rear is a bad idea. It creates clutter and confusion for other road users and is counterproductive. It does not make you any safer, and can make things worse. There was a case in Edinburgh a few years ago when someone had a literal Christmas tree on their bike, with fairy lights, and was hit by a car.
If you have two lights on the back of your bike, make sure they are close together or one above the other, or they will look like a car a long way off instead of a close bicycle.
