Handlebar tape
We're selling lots more handlebar tape than ever before as more people are appreciating the benifits of having several hand positions.
Bar tape is usually padded, the better stuff has cork in it, and we also do a lot of gel tape. We usually charge £10 to supply and fit bar tape. You can fit it yourself, but there is an art to it. The old cloth tape is not used much these days, but we can get it if you want it. It's very cheap.
Bar tape comes in many colours, though green is not available as standard. Most people choose black.
We sell gel pads to go under the tape. These are very comfortable, and cheap at £6.
The disembodied hand of Tony holds the packet of gel pads prior to fitting.
A gel pad stuck in place. They are self adhesive.
The upper gel pad in place. This is where cycle tourists hold the bars most of the time.
The finished job. Gel pads are invisible under the bar tape. The brake levers are Shimano R600s (£60) and the gear levers are Diatech Retro Friction (£40).
