Directors

Dr Alistair Wilson

Consultant psychiatrist Alistair Wilson is the second founding director of Common Wheel. He was fixing his own bike one day and realised the therapeutic effects, and wondered whether it would be the same for his patients. He is a regular commuter cyclist, and a modest collector of slightly offbeat machines. His interest in music led to CW’s diversification into therapeutic music, Polyphony.

Dr Howard Ashton

Howard is a retired town planner, and a definitely active cycletourist and hillwalker. He is also very involved in the Scottish Mountain Bothies Association and other voluntary work. Howard was born affected by cerebral palsy. This condition affects muscle control and co-ordination. He did not succeed in walking until aged 8, and then not confidently. Cycling – or at least riding a bike! – a three wheeler to begin with at three years old, was to prove a simple but effective way to promote muscle strength and tone, as well as providing a useful form of personal independent transport.

Richard Morran

Richard brings a wealth of experience from his work with charities, voluntary and campaigning groups.

Dr Judith Foster

Judith is a regular commuter cyclist, whose many interests include information technology, recycling, and music.

Roy Maclachlan

Roy has been a director since October 2010.  He has brought fresh ideas and enthusiasm, and an in-depth knowledge of buildings from his career as an architect.

Robert Davidson

Robert is the newest member of the team.  He has had a distinguished career as a Mental Health nurse in the Glasgow area and his local knowledge will be very useful.
