Dawes with SA7

This is a 1980s Dawes Shadow, the base model in the Dawes range. It belongs to Jane Woolf, who didn't want to be in the picture. It has a Sturmey Archer seven speed with coaster brake. A coaster brake is worked by pedaling backwards, and is unaffected by rain. They are very relaxing in use, as to slow down you don't have to move your hands.

This bike comes back in every six months or so to get it's spokes tightened, as the rear tyre is a Schwalbe Marathon Plus, which is such a good, tough, tyre that the wheel suffers instead.
