Chic bicycles

Cycling is getting more popular, and some people want their bike to be fashionable. As long as the bike is safe and well designed and made, this is a good thing.

This is Cait Gould with her bike. It's Chic because it's a roadster, and extra chic because it's a Peugeot and made in France. As it's a Common Wheel bike, it was good to begin with and has been made better. Indeed, Cait only brought it back after 18 months because someone tried to steal her rear wheel.

Some bikes regarded as chic are dreadful deathtraps, see the Klapprad page. Others, like the Pashley Princess, are just not worth the money and very heavy. The Pashley Sonnet is a poor copy of 1930s Raleigh. It would be better if they had copied a 1950s bike.

There are lots of lovely chic bags, baskets and panniers for your bike, which we will delighted to advise on and sell you.

As far as clothing goes, we are not really the people to ask. We don't have a picture here, but a realistic fashion photograph taken in the workshop would be captioned: "Ken is wearing a Flametec boiler suit in blue cotton and industrial safety shoes from Supplies for Industry, and an autodarkening welding helmet from Bills Tool Store. TIG welder by Machine Mart. "
